Myself have experienced this a dozen or so times. I presume this is after the recent 1.10.0 update. This is the third cry regarding corrupt files I’ve seen in the last 6 hours on an Affinity product forum. Your SOL, Serif knows, and refuses to fix this. On the iPad projects are stored in a non-backup accessible location, and there’s no way to change the default storage location nor some way to enable an automatic backup or export. ![]() Unfortunately Serif doesn’t think backups are useful. ![]() But how can I design without embedding images? Is there something I'm doing wrong? My suspect was embedded items, like images or vectors, because that's what usually broke my files back in the day I was able to locate the culprit and remove it - usually a broken image. I edited my files from an SSD drive, from an HDD drive, or even from a thumb drive, and it would get corrupted no matter the file location, so I don't think that's it. My question is: do you know some way to recover those files by yourself? Is there a way I'm not familiar with?Īlso, does this keep happening to you? As I said in the beginning, I experience this once or more a month. I know about making backups, and I'm making them frequently, but even so, sometimes you just forget once in the worst moment or you made some important changes just in one day and forget to backup. I know about Affinity forums, and I've posted my file there, and I'm waiting for the reply and the recovery as I write this. ![]() But since version 1.8 or 1.9, that method has stopped working for me and there is nothing I can do. It would allow me to gain access to the original, broken file by double-clicking on it, then I would locate a broken layer or element, remove it and create a new file, working just fine. You know the drill.īack in the earlier versions of Affinity Designer, what I've used to do when my files got corrupted, is that I would create a new file and embed a corrupted file into it. But when I come back to it, it just says it's corrupted and the document must be closed. Everything is fine and normal, I export my designs and save the file. I don't know what it is, but once or twice a month one of my files gets corrupted.
